Osteopathy

The principle of osteopathy is that ones wellbeing is dependent on their bones, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues working together as an efficient unit.

During the initial consultation the osteopath will discuss your medical history and your symptoms. They will then examine you to assess the restriction of joint mobility, and the areas of weakness and/or tenderness.

The osteopathy treatment will aim to restore the normal movement, stability and function of the joints and spine to promote the body’s natural healing process.

 Osteopathic treatment includes:

  • Massage - to improve circulation and relax muscle spasms

  • Stretching of joints - to improve movement and increase blood flow

  • Mobilisation and gentle manipulation of joints and spine

  • Advice to aid recovery and prevent conditions from reoccurring

The initial consultation and treatment will last 60 minutes.

Each subsequent session ranges from 30-60 minutes, depending on the patient’s condition.
